All About Power Rangers

Power Rangers are back in fashion as the kids' must have toy. The latest incarnation to be aired in the UK is Mystic Force Power Rangers which is made in New Zealand, but for this article, we thought we'd trace the history of the Power Rangers.

Power Rangers is based on a Japanese show called Super Sentai. The early shows retained a Japanese look but were remade for Western audiences rather than just redubbed originals.

The first group of Power Ranegrs were the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers. Launched in 1993, they spawned three series (up to 1996) and two movies.

The Power Rangers themselves are a group of humans who have the ability to morph into super heroes dressed in coloured battle suits. The Rangers form a team, each one in a distinct colour and usually led by the Red Ranger.

The series of Power Rangers are as follows:
  • Mighty Morphin Power Rangers
  • Mighty Morphin Alien Rangers
  • Power Rangers: Zeo
  • Power Rangers: Turbo
  • Power Rangers in Space
  • Power Rangers: Lost Galaxy
  • Power Rangers: Lightspeed Rescue
  • Power Rangers: Time Force
  • Power Rangers: Wild Force
  • Power Rangers: Ninja Storm
  • Power Rangers: Dino Thunder
  • Power Rangers: S.P.D. (Space Patrol Delta)
  • Power Rangers: Mystic Force
  • Power Rangers: Operation Overdrive
As you may notice from that list, there's already a successor to Mystic Force called Operation Overdrive, which will be aired in the UK soon.

Doctor Who Returns!

We're very excited at ToysAndVideoGames.co.uk by the recent return of Dr Who - the nation's favour family entertainment for a Saturday night. David Tennant reprises his role as the Timelord, joined this series by Martha Jones - played by Freema Agyeman - as his assistant.

An interesting piece of trivia is that Freema previoued appeared in the Doctor Who spin off, Torchwood, where she met a grisly end thanks to the Cybermen.

Thanks to our friends at Toys R Us, we've made sure we have a great selection of Doctor Who toys and games on the site.
