Comet are doing a deal on a laptop which has a very similar spec, but it is from Acer who are a slightly better known name. In fact, after their recent purchase of Packard Bell and Gateway, they are set to be one of the largest manufacturers of computers in the world. Buying from a well known name is something to consider when it comes to warranty and support issues.

PC World have a fantastic laptop deal under £300. The E Systems branded laptop isn't a great spec - celeron processor, 256mb RAM, 40gb HD - but it comes with a USB mouse, laptop bag, inkjet printer and cable. Basically this is everything you'll need to get started. Performance won't be very fast but it's a great deal if you just want something to surf the net at home and get the homework done on. All this for £299.99!
