Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 - Nintendo Wii

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07
EA
Nintendo Wii

This is one game I was really looking forward to. It seems like the perfect fit for the Nintendo Wii's innovative controller.

Gameplay is excellent with a tonne of full championship courses and a range of modes, such as full PGA tour or arcade mode.

Graphics during gameplay are ok but not spectacular. Graphics on the menu screens are really substandard and would have not looked out of place on a console two generations previous to this one. I guess they make these games for all formats and settle one one graphical theme for the menus which they can use on all but its disappointing to be so underwhelmed on a brand new console.

One annoying aspects of the game is the commentary. In small doses, it is amusing and adds to the experience, but the comments giveaway the success of your shot as soon as you hit the ball, telling you if you'll be in the rough or in a bunker. This is detrimental to the gameplay as its more fun to watch the ball drop and see where it lands. They are obviously replicating the TV experience but real commentators are guessing where the ball will land. In this, you know that the commentary is invoked by the game's certain knowledge of where the ball will finish.

Overall, a decent game if you enjoy gold and it uses the controller well, but the game is Rough round the edges and only just makes the Cut.
